Atinka TV, a subsidiary of the Tobinco Media Group (TMG), has officially launched the 10th season of Di Asa, Ghana’s popular dance reality show for plus-size women, with exciting prizes and new features for contestants and viewers.
Auditions for the new season will begin next week, Saturday , 1st August, 2026 in Kade in the Eastern Region. The title sponsor for Season 10 is Lawson Herbal Limited, producers of Lawson De Ray Ginger Liquor.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Director of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Ms. Abigail Tobbin, announced that winners of this year’s competition will receive SUV cars and an all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai.
The Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group, Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin, also revealed that he has prepared a special package for all the winners and will personally present the ultimate prize at the grand finale.
This year’s competition will also introduce new features. Unlike previous seasons, Wednesdays will no longer be used for freestyle dance performances. Instead, contestants will take part in fashion shows, where they will model different outfits.
Supporters will also be able to interact with and follow their favourite contestants virtually throughout the competition, instead of seeing them only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
In his address, Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin said the idea for Di Asa came after he watched a plus-size woman dance confidently at an event many years ago. Inspired by her performance, he decided to bring the concept to television. He said the show has changed the lives of many women who were once mocked because of their body size and has helped build their confidence.
“I believe Di Asa is from heaven because it has truly empowered women,” he said, while thanking all past contestants, managers and everyone who has contributed to the programme’s success.
Representing the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs. Naa Ashiorkor Otoo Sam, an Officer at the International Tourism Business Secretariat, praised Di Asa for promoting Ghanaian culture through dance, music, fashion and tradition.
She described dance as an important part of Ghana’s cultural identity and said the programme supports the Authority’s “Experience Ghana” campaign by encouraging both Ghanaians and international visitors to appreciate the country’s rich heritage.
She assured the organisers of the Ghana Tourism Authority’s continued support for programmes that preserve culture, promote the creative arts and contribute to tourism development. She also officially endorsed the launch of the anniversary season and wished the organisers a successful competition.
The Director of Atinka TV, Mrs. Cynthia Akans, thanked the management of the Tobinco Group, sponsors, staff and viewers for supporting the programme over the past nine seasons. She said Di Asa has become a platform that celebrates the beauty, confidence, talent and resilience of Ghanaian women while preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage.
She added that Season 10 will be “bigger and better” and promised quality entertainment for viewers across the country.
The Director of Bullet TV, Sandra Nana Adwoa Annan, praised the visionary leadership of Tobinco Group Executive Chairman, Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin, for creating Di Asa to empower plus-size women who had long been marginalized by society.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, musicians including Nii Funny, and professional dancers.
It also featured an awards ceremony where dedicated sponsors, crew members, and former Di Asa queens were honoured for their contributions to the show’s success.
